Late Saturday morning, Phoenix police responded to a medical clinic near 30th Street and McDowell Road for reports that a newborn was taken by his parents without the child being medically cleared to go.

Police say the boy was under critical care at the time his parents left the clinic in a dark-colored Jeep. Once detectives became involved and officers gathered more information, an Amber Alert was issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety around 6:30 p.m.

A short time after the alert went out, Phoenix police contacted the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office regarding two possible addresses linked to the parents. Deputies surveilled both locations and spotted the vehicle involved outside a Kingman home.

Both parents were detained while the baby was placed in the custody of DCS and taken to a hospital for evaluation.
