Baby drowns in Gilbert pool, officials say

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A baby died after being pulled from a pool in Gilbert, according to officials with the city’s police department.

Officers responded to a home near Higley and Elliot roads just after 5:30 p.m. for reports of a drowning. Officers immediately began life-saving measures on the 1-year-old, who was pulled out of the pool unresponsive.

Fire officials took the baby to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Gilbert police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
