Father, son dead in domestic violence incident, shooting involving Surprise police officers

SURPRISE, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are dead after a domestic violence incident turned into a shooting involving police officers in Surprise Saturday.

At around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a home near Reems and Greenway roads for reports of a domestic violence incident. According to Surprise Police Sgt. Rick Hernandez, a father and son were arguing and multiple shots were fired.

Officers got to the scene, entered the home and at some point shot the son, according to Hernandez. He died at the scene.

The father was later found dead in the home. No officers were injured, police said.

Surprise police say what led up to both deaths remain under investigation.

The Glendale Police Department is leading the investigation as part of the West Valley Investigative Response Team protocols.
