Crews stop forward progress of Rucker Fire burning in Cochise County

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Fire crews stopped the forward progress of a new wildfire burning in the Chiricahua Wilderness.

According to the Coronado National Forest, the Rucker Fire started near Rucker Lake around 12:40 p.m. Monday, May 25.

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the fire was around 92 acres with no containment.

The Coronado National Forest said air and ground support are on the scene, and no structures are at risk.

Evacuations are in place for campsites near the historic Rucker Lake, Raspberry Ridge Trail #282, Monte Vista Trail #221, and the Raspberry/Rucker Trailhead.

Visitors are asked to avoid the area due to additional traffic on Rucker Canyon Road, FSR 74E.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
