Lightning sparks 2 fires in northern Arizona

NORTHERN ARIZONA (AZFamily) — Lightning has caused two large fires in northern Arizona.

In northwest Arizona, the Dellenbaugh Fire, south of Mount Dellenbaugh, is estimated to be 400 acres, according to officials with the National Park Service. Some structures to the north and northeast are being threatened, officials said.

In northern Arizona, the Rock Canyon Fire, nine miles south of Highway 89 and nine miles west of House Rock Valley Road, is an estimated 500 acres.

Both fires are showing extreme fire behavior, officials said.

About 50 personnel are at the Rock Canyon Fire, while 16 are working the Dellenbaugh Fire. Additional resources have been called.
