Crews respond to hazmat situation near Irvington, Palo Verde

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Deputies and fire crews are responding to a hazmat situation near the 3500 block of East Irvington Road and South Palo Verde Road on July 2.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said they are responding to a natural gas leak.

COMMUNITY ALERT: GAS LEAK

Deputies & fire crews are responding to a natural gas leak in the 3500 block of E Irvington Rd. Intersection of E Irvington Rd & S Palo Verde Rd is CLOSED. Chevron gas station has been evacuated. No public access to businesses/hotels on NE corner. pic.twitter.com/YKv8nFDRZM

The PCSD said the intersection is closed, the Chevron gas station has been evacuated and there is no public access to businesses on the northeast corner permitted.

The PCSD said the gas company is en route.

Deputies have asked the public to avoid the area.
