TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – 2025 was a year of growth and success for the Tucson Fire Department. From reducing response times to expanding in-house mental health programs, the TFD is making big strides.

The TFD is prioritizing expanding its mental health support. New wellness initiatives have helped with employee retention and satisfaction, such as the implementation of a dog to help with hard calls and Struggle Well, which opens the door to mental health conversations.
The TFD is also prioritizing community engagement. The TFD has been working on staying active on social media and strengthening public safety information.
Chief Sharon McDonough joined 13 News’ Devyn Shea on Tucson Now to talk about all of the improvements the TFD has made and what they have coming up.
