The incident happened in the 9000 block of West Rochelle Avenue near Flamingo Road and south Fort Apache Road.

According to LVMPD, around 5:45 a.m., a 911 caller reported shots fired and believed that someone had been shot.

Officers from the Summerlin Area Command responded to the area and located two elderly women, where one was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers provided aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim died on the scene, said LVMPD.

The two elderly women were on a morning walk when a man wearing all black approached the pair and demanded all their property. According to police, at some point, the suspect shot at one of the women and fled the scene.

The gunshots were heard by neighbors nearby, including brothers Jonathan and Ryan Sorocco Brunk.

“I had my window open and I could hear the two gun shots super clear and then I guess it makes more sense because I heard one of the ladies screaming ‘Please help me God anybody.’ It was horrible,” Ryan Sorocco Brunk said.

Jonathan Sorocco Brunk said his window faces the street where the shooting happened. He said he saw the shooter.

“He had tight curls and he was a light-skinned African American and I wasn’t able to see any of his clothes. He had a distinct face, strong jaw,” Jonathan Sorocco Brunk said.

“I probably looked out the window a minute after it happened but it looked like he was looking back trying to see what was going on but he started running,” he said.

Jail records released Wednesday morning identify the shooter as Devion Teague, who is facing a charge of open murder, and two felony charges of robbery.

Officials believe this was an isolated incident. LVMPD said there is no danger to the public.
