On the evening of Friday, May 22, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received a call from a concerned citizen about a mother duck and her ducklings attempting to cross State Route 24 in Mesa.
A trooper arrived in the area and found one little duckling that had gotten separated from its family. However, the scared little one ran away from the trooper, leading to a “high-speed” chase.
Thankfully, the duckling was safely wrangled and given shelter until it could be released.
DPS reminds the public that no call is too small, whether it’s animals or people in need. Troopers also thanked the good Samaritan who called in for help, reminding others to always keep our wildlife safe.
