MESA (AZFamily) — Court documents are revealing new details about a shooting inside a Target store in the East Valley Sunday night that left a man with critical injuries.

Police arrested 21-year-old Dylan Stinson on Monday, who is facing multiple counts of aggravated assault and one count of discharging a firearm within city limits.
According to court documents, witnesses told investigators that Stinson and another man—who has not been identified—were near the store’s restroom area when the shooting happened.
The victim was shot in the torso and was transported with life-threatening injuries. He has not been able to talk to investigators as he recovers from multiple surgeries.
Surveillance video reportedly shows Stinson and the second man running back toward the restroom area around the time of the shooting. After the gunfire, court documents say Stinson ran out of the store holding a black AR-15 style rifle, while the second man ran out holding a tan handgun.
Officers recovered a single .223 casing at the scene, which matches ammunition commonly used in AR-15 style rifles.
Court documents say the two men fled in a blue Toyota Camry. Police soon determined that the car’s registered owner is Stinson’s mother.
Not long after the shooting, officers responded to a call about a suspicious person in a nearby area. Court documents say police found a man who matched the description of the second suspect seen in the Target surveillance video, and took him in for questioning.
Per court documents, the man told police he was with Stinson at the time of the shooting and had been picked up earlier in the same Camry. He also told police there were three other people in the car, including the victim and two women.

According to the statement, the group first went to a smoke shop in the same shopping complex as Target. The man told police that the victim and the two women were left with the car while he and Stinson were inside the shop.
When they returned, he said the victim and the two women were gone—and a rifle was missing from the trunk. Court documents say Stinson and the other man then went to Target and confronted the victim.
The man told investigators the victim pulled out the rifle, which he said was tucked down his pant leg. He said he and Stinson grabbed the victim and pulled him to the ground. While the victim was on the ground and unable to move, the man told police that Stinson took control of the rifle and shot the victim.
Police say a Flock license plate reader data helped identify the Camry and link it to an address in Mesa. Court documents also state a friend of the victim told officers the victim had a prior conflict with Stinson.
Investigators obtained and served a search warrant at the Mesa address where Stinson was located, and a rifle matching the one used in the shooting was found inside the car.
Stinson was booked into jail and appeared in court on Tuesday. The judge set a $500,000 bond.
