Around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies received an emergency call near the Mud Cliffs area along the river. The 911 caller said that she was assaulted by another group and held underwater.
Deputies responded to the area and found the victim, who identified the suspect as Beyonce Burruel.
As authorities attempted to interview the suspect, investigators say she and another man, Dario Burruel, “hindered deputies from conducting their investigation.” Both suspects began fighting deputies, injuring several of them.
Investigators say all of the deputies had non-life-threatening injuries. Specifics about their injuries were not released.
