The choir will perform Sunday at Re-Dedicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise, and Thanksgiving in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Juan de Dios Hernandez, assistant dean of music at GCU, said the choir is honored to participate in the celebration.

“We’re just so grateful and truly honored to be part of this celebration,” Hernandez said. “We live in a great country, but to be part of a celebration of 250 years of this amazing place, it’s just a great privilege.”

Critical Mass is a vocal ensemble that represents the university in a variety of settings. The choir performs at churches, Major League Baseball games and other events.

The White House selected the repertoire for the performance, which includes hymns.

Joanna Heneveld, a recent GCU graduate and choir member, said the performance is a fitting way to conclude her college experience.
