The fire, which started near Pima Canyon during a storm Sunday night, has burned around three acres as of 10 p.m. Monday. The flames on Monday night were initially reported as a new fire.

The Coronado National Forest said the fire was likely caused by lightning, and there was no containment.

The CNF said fire “continued to smolder within the interior of the burn scar, and an ignited tree fell, causing a roll-out to occur.”

Due to the steep terrain, the tree fell far and caused the fire to spread quickly.

Crews who were working on mopping up the fire jumped into full suppression mode Monday night. The CNF said firefighters will build out the containment lines through the night while keeping an eye out for hotspots.

The Table Mountain Fire is one of two that started in the Catalinas on Sunday.

On June 14, the Ventana Fire started near Mount Kimble. It was around three acres and likely lightning-caused. The CNF said there were no flames, smoke, or hot spots.
