Officers said the driver, identified as Jhon Aramis Sanchez Torres, 25, was going north in the southbound lanes of McQueen Road near Ray Road just before 7 p.m. on June 25.

That was when workers in Chandler’s Real Time Operations Center started tracking Torres and giving officers his exact location, officials said.

Video from a city camera showed a man on the median trying to get Torres’ attention as he drove the wrong way, police said.

Officers heading north and south on McQueen tried to get him to stop, but video showed he swerved around them in his car, police said.

Police said Torres did not stop for officers, so they used a patrol car to pin him down and prevent him from driving. Body camera video showed Torres getting out of the car.

“Face away from me. Face away from me!” the officer yelled.

He was arrested and booked on several charges, including aggravated DUI and failure to yield.

No one was hurt.
