TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Salvation Army is celebrating National Donut Day with donuts and community service.
Donut Day carries historical meaning for the Salvation Army that goes back to World War I.
The Salvation Army had women out on the front line manning spiritual and emotional care. The Donut Lassies passed out donuts to raise spirits and lift the moral of soldiers on the front line.
Lieutenant John Mercer from the Salvation Army Tucson joined 13 News’ Devyn Shea on Tucson Now to talk about it.
