Fenris Lu, 31, is scheduled to have an arraignment hearing on Wednesday morning.
In the early morning hours of May 20, authorities say Lu used a crowbar to break into the facility near 7th Avenue and Jefferson Street in downtown Phoenix. He allegedly broke a lock on the freezer, unzipped 11 body bags and inappropriately touched four of the bodies.
Lu was arrested at the scene and is facing one count of burglary, four counts of sexual conduct with a deceased person, one count of criminal damage, one count of escape and one count of possession of burglary tools.
A friend of Lu’s told Arizona’s Family that he had concerns about Lu’s mental state leading up to the events. The friend says Lu’s addiction to methamphetamine started in Seattle and continued when he moved to Phoenix.
