BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — A pregnant teen survived a Buckeye shooting that killed her newborn son, her best friend and an unborn baby and now she’s speaking through unimaginable grief.

“We were getting ready to plan the baby shower and instead now we have to plan a funeral,” said 17-year-old Abby Krebs, the pregnant girl who survived the Buckeye shooting.

A handful of photos show the only time she got to hold her baby before he died.

“I miss him a lot. It’s honestly hard to talk about,” said Abby.

A nurse gave her a necklace that says it all.

“You were my favorite hello and my hardest goodbye,” Abby said, reading the message on the necklace.

Weighing just 1 pound, 13 ounces, she said he only lived six days after being born via emergency C-section, three months early.

“His name was Timothy Rylee,” said Abby.

That middle name, Rylee, was given in honor of Abby’s best friend, 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery. Rylee was also pregnant.

“We were like they can be best friends, they can grow up together. That was our thought when we both found out we were pregnant together,” said Abby.

Amid the excitement, Abby worried about Rylee’s relationship with her baby’s father, Michael Sanchez.

“I was scared that he was going to kill her because he would threaten it so many times and at one point he had even sent her a picture with a gun to his head,” said Abby.

Despite concern from family and friends and prior reports to police about domestic violence, Rylee was murdered.

“It happened because she told him that she wanted to leave him. And we thought that because she was at my house, she would be safe because we thought he didn’t know where I lived. And he ended up showing up at my house because of Life 360. Even though her location had been off earlier in the day,” said Abby.

On May 14, Buckeye police said Sanchez shot and killed Rylee and their unborn child.

He’s accused of shooting Abby and their other friend Myah, too.

Sanchez, 18, and the suspected getaway driver, Antonio Tequida, 19, were in court Wednesday morning. Both pleaded not guilty.

“I heard the gunshot go off and I just saw my best friend fall to the floor immediately. And in that moment, I kind of knew she was gone, but I didn’t want to believe it. And then he shot at me and Myah while we were running away and he shot me from behind and I fell and then I tried to get up again and I fell again and I crawled into the rocks by my house,” said Abby.

Abby survived after a week in the hospital, but she nearly lost one of her legs and the violence stole her son.

Three weeks later, Myah is still in the ICU, fighting for her life.

“Before my mom and her boyfriend ran outside of my house, I was very scared that me or Myah were gonna die too,” said Abby.

“When we came outside and asked who was shot, Myah and Abby both responded, ‘We all are.’ I could see Michael and the other guy (Tequida) running,” said Jennifer Krebs, Abby’s mother.

Abby’s mother and her boyfriend, Preston Offield, said they rushed outside after hearing seven gunshots.

“I jump over the couch. She goes around the other side. We both hit the door and then all we just see is them all three on the ground,” said Offield. “It’s like time stops for a second.”

“And they both just started yelling, ‘It was Michael Sanchez! Michael Sanchez! Michael Sanchez did this! Tell the cops it was Michael Sanchez!’” said Jennifer Krebs.

A grand jury indicted Sanchez on eight felony charges including three counts of first-degree murder.

Abby feels lucky to be alive, but the pain is fresh.

She’s currently stuck in the anger stage of grief.

“I’m angry that he took my baby and my best friend from me. And I’m angry that he injured one of my other best friends,” said Abby.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help with her baby’s funeral expenses.

A national study found the leading cause of death for pregnant women is homicide. Over the weekend, a pregnant teen from Phoenix was shot and killed in San Diego.
