TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The University of Arizona will remove the name of late labor leader and political activist Cesar E. Chavez from a building on campus.

In a letter, University President Suresh Garimella said he received a report from the university’s Naming Advisory Committee.
After reviewing the findings, Garimella wrote he made the decision to remove the Chavez name “from the building, signage, maps, and related materials by the end of this month.”
The move follows new controversy surrounding Chavez after he was accused of having inappropriate sexual relations with young women and minors.

The building will now be referred to as the Economics building.
