Arizona DPS said 76-year-old Loreto Ruiz walked away from his home near 12th Avenue and West Bilby Roads some time between 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

DPS said Ruiz has a medical condition that causes confusion, memory loss, and disorientation. He also has significant medical issues that require regular medication.

Ruiz’s family told 13 News’ Mary Coleman that he has Alzheimer’s and was likely having an episode when he got out of bed and left the house.

DPS said law enforcement and Ruiz’s family have had no luck finding him, so the SAFE Alert was issued on Tuesday, June 2.
