TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Pima County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man on domestic violence charges of strangulation and kidnapping.

Ashan Manish Kumar made his initial court appearance Tuesday, September 8, where the judge set bond at $50,000.
The interim complaint shows deputies responded to a home after a woman’s mother called for law enforcement assistance.
The document shows a female told deputies she was okay through a glass sliding door, but made a gesture saying “please help me.”
When deputies entered the home, the interim complaint shows the female told them Kumar had been abusing her for the past few days.
The female said she told Kumar she no longer wanted to be in the relationship.
The document shows when the female tried to leave the apartment, Kumar grabbed her by the hair and smashed her head against the carpet floor.

The document shows the female said, at one point, Kumar began to choke her with his hands.
During his interview with law enforcement, Kumar stated he knew nothing of the injuries but did say the female was not happy with the relationship.
The document shows the pair had been in a relationship for about five months and lived together.
Kumar’s next court appearance is scheduled for September 18.
