TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A woman is facing a host of domestic violence charges, including attempted second-degree murder, following a machete attack at a Tucson home on Sept. 4.

Rosetta Hicks has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, child abuse, aggravated assault with serious injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and disorderly conduct with a dangerous instrument. The 62-year-old Hicks is being held on a $525,000 bond.
According to the interim complaint, Hicks attacked one of her daughters with the machete during a fight. The victim’s son, a non-verbal and autistic 9-year-old, was at the home along with the victim’s boyfriend.
The victim suffered a deep cut to her arm, and officers said they could see bone and ligaments through the wound. While doctors were able to save the victim and her arm, she was in critical condition at a local hospital.
The victim told investigators that she and Hicks got into an argument, and that Hicks said, “I brought you into this world, I can take you out of it,” before the attack.
Hicks claimed the victim had been acting “belligerent” and threatened to “beat her ass” multiple times. She also said the victim had cracked a window, threw a TV, ripped a shower curtain down, and kicked a washing machine.
Hicks told police she had custody of the victim’s son, and that the reason she hid from police was that she was worried they would take the child away.

The suspect claimed she did not do it, did not own a machete, and that it was probably the victim’s boyfriend who did it.
Hicks allegedly pulled the same machete on one of her other daughters during an incident a few weeks before the Sept. 4 attack.
Investigators found a machete covered in blood near the home, and it matched the description from witnesses of the previous incident.
