TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Two dogs were having a “ruff” day before Tempe officers came to the rescue.

Video from the department dated Aug. 29 shows two dogs stuck in a canal, with officers throwing a rope around one to pull him to a ladder waiting at the side of the canal.
“Two dogs were struggling for their lives in a canal,” a video from Tempe police said. “Our officers quickly responded and safely got them out.”
Officers teamed up with Lost Our Home Pet Rescue to scan the pups for microchips, found their family and got them home safely, officials said.
