KYKOTSMOVI VILLAGE, AZ (AZFamily) — Investigators are hoping a new photo released Thursday will generate new information about an Arizona man who went missing nearly 20 years ago in rural Navajo County.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) made an age-progressed image of Darian Ray Nevayaktewa public that shows what he would look like at 37.

Nevayaktewa was 19 when he was last seen hanging out with people near Pumpkin Seed Hill in the Kykotsmovi Village, about 85 miles northeast of Flagstaff, on the Hopi Indian Reservation on June 19, 2008.

He had been visiting his father after recently finishing the school year in New Mexico, where he lived with his mother. What happened to him is still a mystery, and his family is holding out hope that he will be found.

“We have been searching for Darian since June 2008. If anyone out there knows anything, please come forward. Darian, we miss you. We love you. We will never stop searching for you. Please help us bring Darian home,” Darian’s mother, Lynette, said in a message.

NCMEC is hoping the photo creates tips in the case.

“Time does not diminish the importance of finding answers,” John Bischoff, vice president of NCMEC’s Missing Children Division, said in a written statement. “We know that age-progression images can generate new leads in long-term missing cases. We encourage the public to carefully review Darian’s image and share it widely. A single tip could help bring him home.”

Anyone with information about Darian or his disappearance is asked to call the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at 1-800-THE-LOST or the Bureau of Indian Affairs (Arizona) at 1-833-560-2065. Information can also be emailed to BIA at [email protected], or people can anonymously text BIAMMU to 847411.
