PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A driver is at large after a man was hit and killed by a vehicle Tuesday evening in midtown Phoenix.

Phoenix police were called to the intersection of 5th Avenue and Indian School Road around 6:30 p.m. for reports of a man who was hurt.
First responders arrived and took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Phoenix police said.
Initial investigation found that the man was hit by a white SUV or truck, which fled before officers arrived, police said.
The man who died has not been publicly identified.
Indian School Road was closed from 3rd Avenue to 7th Avenue for the investigation, and it’s expected to remain closed into the night.
