Lake Havasu City police officers responded to the London Bridge area around 8:50 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing the boy jump. According to investigators, the boy briefly resurfaced before disappearing underwater.
Police officers and fire crews immediately began searching the shoreline and nearby water. Several witnesses also volunteered their personal boats to assist with the search-and-rescue efforts. Shortly after, a firefighter used rescue equipment to search underwater.
Rescuers found the unresponsive boy underwater at approximately 9:15 a.m., police said.
Crews pulled the boy onto a boat and immediately began CPR. He was initially taken to Havasu Regional Medical Center in critical condition before being flown to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Tuesday afternoon for further treatment.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department was notified early Wednesday morning that the boy had died due to his injuries.
It remains unclear why the boy jumped from the bridge.
