At 1:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Pines at Prescott apartment complex near Willow Creek Road and Commerce Drive.
Police said they found shattered glass, several 9mm shell casings and a faint blood trail leading away from the scene.
Residents at the apartment complex told officers they heard multiple gunshots and saw a black BMW SUV with a shattered rear window and multiple bullet holes leaving the complex. They also said they saw a man running through the parking lot.
A short time later, officers located a black BMW SUV traveling with a black Audi A6 sedan on Prescott Lakes Parkway. Police stopped the BMW, which had a female driver and a male passenger. Officers said the vehicle had multiple bullet holes on the exterior and interior.
During the stop, officers saw the Audi make a U-turn and drive past the scene. Police stopped the Audi several blocks away and detained the driver and a male passenger.
Police said the investigation determined the BMW’s driver and the Audi passenger, 18-year-old Daniel Jose Apolinar of Prescott, were involved in a domestic dispute earlier in the apartment complex parking lot.

Officers say Apolinar used a handgun to break the BMW’s driver-side window and fired six rounds into the rear of the vehicle.
Apolinar was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail. Police said he faces charges including aggravated assault (domestic violence), discharge of a firearm at a nonresidential structure, use of a weapon during the commission of a felony and criminal damage (domestic violence).
