The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 40-year-old Coral Michelle Smith was taken into custody near Orange Grove and Camino De La Tierra on Monday, June, 15. She is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Despite speculation from national media outlets, the case has nothing to do with the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

The PCSD said Smith assaulted Rustin Lee Dodd, 57, near River and La Cholla on May 29.

Deputies said Dodd went to Smith’s home, and the two got into a fight. Smith allegedly assaulted Dodd and refused to let her leave the home.

The PCSD said Dodd was taken to the hospital after she became unresponsive. She died on June 1, and the investigation is ongoing.
