The triple shooting happened outside a home in the Buckeye Westpark neighborhood, near Broadway Road and Miller Road, around 8:15 p.m. May 14.

Family members say Abby was shot in the back and forced to deliver her baby early. She named him Timmothy Rylee in honor of her friend, 16-year-old Rylee Montgomery, who was also killed in the shooting. Montgomery was pregnant at the time of her death.

A 22-year-old woman is also recovering from a gunshot wound.

Police say Montgomery’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, 18-year-old Michael Sanchez, was the shooter.

Sanchez was booked into a Maricopa County jail on two counts of first-degree murder, endangerment and interference with a monitoring device. He is being held without bond. Police are recommending an additional homicide charge following the newborn’s death.
