Man arrested after alleged break-in at Maricopa County medical examiner’s office

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after an alleged break-in at the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call just after 1:30 a.m. about a possible burglary near 7th Avenue and Jefferson Street in downtown Phoenix.

Maricopa County Security Services and the Phoenix Police Department were already at the scene helping secure the building. Deputies searched the facility and found Fenris Lu.

Lu was arrested on site. He is facing one count of burglary, four counts of sexual conduct with a dead person, one count of criminal damage, one count of escape and one count of possession of burglary tools.

During his initial appearance, his bond was set at $500,000 cash. If he posts bond, he will be required to wear an ankle monitor.

Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
