In a dated Friday, the Senate panel told the Arizona Democrat that it did not find evidence that he violated federal law, Senate rules, or “related standards of conduct.”
As part of its investigation, the panel reviewed statements from the individuals mentioned in Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna’s complaint, information Gallego provided to the committee, and FEC filings, among other records.
“The dismissal by the Ethics Committee reaffirms what I have said about these accusations from the beginning: they were right-wing conspiracies peddled by far-right activists like Anna Paulina Luna, the White House, and their allies,” Gallego posted on X Monday.
Gallego said he awaits an apology from Luna, who had also widely publicized her accusations, and accused her of “weaponizing the ethics process.”

His office released the committee’s letter on Monday.
Gallego, who’s serving his first term in the Senate and is mentioned as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, has faced recent scrutiny over his past ties to ex-Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell. Gallego considered Swalwell a close friend and chaired the California Democrat’s 2020 presidential campaign.
Swalwell resigned from Congress in April after sexual assault allegations. Shortly after, Gallego held an emotional press conference, denying any wrongdoing but conceding that he “messed up” in trusting Swalwell.
