TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A man was sentenced for a brutal hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Tucson earlier this year.

On Monday, June 22, James Anthony Badial was handed a three-year sentence.
The 58-year-old Badial was arrested days after hitting and killing Brallan Alberto Nidez Guzman near 22nd and Wilmot on Jan. 6,
According to the Tucson Police Department, the 30-year-old Guzman died days later.
Badial’s girlfriend later called 911 and said he was the driver who hit Guzman.
According to court documents, investigators found Guzman’s severed thumb in Badial’s vehicle. The vehicle also had front-end and windshield damage, according to court documents.

Badial admitted to hitting Guzman but said he didn’t stop because he was scared and didn’t have a license. He was charged with failure to stop for an accident involving death or serious injury.
