PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A local nonprofit teamed up with the Phoenix Police Department to give a man with Down syndrome the experience of a lifetime.

Sharing Down Syndrome Arizona partnered with the Phoenix police to provide 21-year-old Devyn, who has always dreamed of becoming a police officer, with a day at the police academy.
The experience was part of the nonprofit’s “Best Day Ever Program.”
Devyn received a badge-pinning ceremony and a behind-the-scenes look at how the police academy and department works. The tour included K-9 training and a ride in the department’s helicopter.
