TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Zeke Cook and Debbie Federico, candidates for South Tucson City Council, joined Devyn Shea at the Tucson Now desk to make their case to voters.

The two running on a slate together is not unique in South Tucson, says Cook, as the council will choose the mayor amongst themselves and running on a slate in tradition.
The two were paired together by vice mayor of South Tucson Melissa Brown-Dominguez for their similar ideas for the city, even though they had never met prior to running together.
Among those similarities in vision lies creating a strategic financial plan that lays the bricks for long term financial stability, ultimately being able to fund public safety and making South Tucson a more attractive destination for businesses.
Cook and Frederico emphasis the need for open communication and partnership between the council and city staff to work in tandem to bring outside business to South Tucson.

Frederico speaks to the current food desert in South Tucson for residents that do not drive, and creative solutions such as Farmer’s Markets to bridge that gap.
