PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Republican gubernatorial nominee Rep. Andy Biggs has selected a running mate for the newly created lieutenant governor position.

Biggs selected Sine Kerr, a former Arizona Senate Majority Whip, to be the GOP nominee for lieutenant governor. Kerr served as Arizona state senator for Legislative Districts 13 and 25 from 2018-2025. Her districts included most of the West Valley and stretched to Yuma County.
Kerr was previously elected by GOP colleagues to serve as Senate Majority Whip, a top party leader responsible for counting votes and ensuring that party members are present for key votes.
Kerr also touts an extensive agricultural background. She and her husband operate a four-generation dairy farm in Buckeye. She most recently served as the state executive director for the U.S Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency.
“Sine knows Arizona’s agriculture community as well as anyone and has the respect of farmers, ranchers, and policy makers from around the state,” Biggs said in a statement. “She will be a great running mate and a fantastic Lieutenant Governor for every Arizonan.”

Arizona is one of only a handful of states without a lieutenant governor. Currently, the Secretary of State is next in line if the governor dies, resigns or is impeached.
Similar to the U.S. vice president, the lieutenant governor will appear on the ballot as part of the governor’s ticket. Once elected, the lieutenant governor will also hold an administrative role assigned by the governor.
