BOUDLER CITY, NV (AZFamily) — Hoover Dam is set to welcome visitors once again after an equipment issue was repaired.

The dam will reopen to visitors on Friday after repairs were made to the facility’s cableway system, according to the United States Bureau of Reclamation.
Visitor access to the dam was closed as a precaution on Monday after the cableway carriage shifted unexpectedly during routine maintenance, which placed additional stress on the system.
Maintenance teams found and fixed the issue, and crews operated the cableway and returned the carriage that was hanging over the main access road to its home position.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience while our teams worked to protect visitor safety and resolve this issue,” said Reclamation Lower Colorado Basin acting regional director Genevieve Johnson. “Safety is always our top priority. Securing the area allowed us to thoroughly assess the situation and complete the necessary repairs while keeping the public and our crews safe.”

The dam and power plant operated normally through the closure, a Bureau of Reclamation spokesperson said, and employees were able to safely access the site all week.
