TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a train and pedestrian accident near South Nogales Highway and South Old Nogales Highway on Sep. 5.

The PCSD said that shortly after 6:00 a.m., deputies found a man, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Enrique Martinez, who had been struck by a train and died.
According to the investigation, Martinez had been seen lying on the train tracks as the train approached. The train was unable to stop before hitting him.
Deputies said Martinez was found near drug paraphernalia, and investigators believe that he may have been impaired.

The investigation is still ongoing.
