PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man reportedly confessed to harming another man as police investigated a disturbing discovery in central Phoenix Wednesday afternoon.

Shortly after 6:30 p.m., first responders were called to the area of 10th Street and Devonshire Avenue, just north of Indian School Road.
A woman told police she hadn’t heard from her father in several days, so she went to his home to check on him. When she arrived, she reportedly found him unresponsive.
Officers found 75-year-old Fred Ceyala dead at the scene with “obvious trauma” and covered in blood, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
While police investigated, they received a phone call from a man at a hospital claiming he had injured the victim and wanted to confess. Officers responded to the hospital, where the man was detained.

The person of interest has not been publicly identified. The investigation remains ongoing.
