The Marana Police Department said 42-year-old Brian Pace was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

13 News has requested the interim complaint, which should provide more details about the shooting.

Pace made his initial court appearance, which can be seen in the video player at the top of this story, late Tuesday night.

During that hearing, the state asked for a $10,000 bond. The defense said Pace does not have a criminal history and has lived in Tucson for the last six years, so they wanted a bond of $3,000.

A judge set Pace’s bond at $1,500 but said he cannot contact the victim or possess firearms if he is released.

According to the Terminal Ballistics Training Group website, Pace is a Marine combat veteran and an instructor for the company.

Pace allegedly did four tours and later worked as a security contractor in Fallujah.

It was the second shooting in Marana in less than a week that involved a veteran.

On Monday, Sept. 28, 55-year-old Charles Whipple was arrested after allegedly shooting someone in the drive-through of the In-N-Out.

The MPD said Whipple is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder and endangerment. As of Oct. 1, he was being held on a $150,000 bond.

During his initial court appearance, Whipple said he is a military veteran and former officer.
