Viewer video shows rain and hail coming down in north Phoenix, while similar storm scenes unfolded in Glendale, Tempe, Mesa and other Valley communities.

Several areas in the Valley have seen damage. In Phoenix’s North Mountain area, heavy hail slammed cars and homes around 3:30 p.m.

In west Phoenix, near 31st Avenue and Bethany Home Road, the severe weather knocked down tree branches.

At an apartment complex near 19th and Peoria avenues, people found shattered windows and windshields after the storm moved through.

“I heard the rain, and I heard the really loud thundering, and the window was shaking, and I’m just staring out the window like, it’s not gonna break. Then boom! It breaks on me,” one woman said.

The power of the storms knocked down a tree into an apartment building near 28th and Peoria avenues.

More than 2,400 APS customers and nearly 2,000 SRP customers did not have electricity at 4:30 p.m., but those numbers dropped to a few hundred a couple of hours later.

A Mesa apartment complex was left with a trail of damage after a powerful storm tore through late Tuesday night.

Mesa neighborhoods were pummeled with hail, wind and rain during the storm. Some parts of Chandler also received heavy rain and winds.

At the Talise Apartments, located near Gilbert Road and University Drive, the storm uprooted large trees and snapped a large branch, causing it to fall onto a carport. The impact bent the carport and damaged one vehicle parked underneath.

Other residents woke up to trees that fell onto their vehicles, shattering the windshields.

“My car’s just buried underneath a tree. It was crazy winds last night. It was crazy last night. I didn’t think it was going to be that bad, but it was nuts,” one resident said.

The storm left a mess at Quail Run Park, located off Loop 202 and Greenfield Road. Several trees were snapped and uprooted, and stadium lights on the baseball field were toppled. Crews were busy shoveling and clearing the debris out of the park.
