Crews were called just after 5:30 a.m. to the Travelodge by Wyndham hotel near 25th Avenue and Greenway Road. When firefighters arrived, the fire had already spread to the roof.

Due to the size and spread of the fire, it was upgraded to a second-alarm response, bringing in additional crews and equipment. Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.

No injuries have been reported, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. The building is believed to be vacant, but firefighters still need to clear it to make sure no one was inside.
