The team informed Harrison Saturday morning that he will be inactive for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions while details of the trade are finalized, according to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Under the agreed-upon deal, the Cardinals will send Harrison and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Texans in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick, according to Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The trade reunites Harrison with former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, who now leads the Texans’ offense. The two were college teammates at Ohio State before Stroud was drafted second overall by Houston in 2023.

The Cardinals have not yet commented on the reported trade.

Harrison was drafted by the Cardinals fourth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. In his rookie season, he recorded more than 800 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

His second year was stunted by injuries and illness, including an appendectomy, and he had 608 receiving yards and four touchdowns over 12 games.

In four games with the Cardinals this season, he had five receptions, 85 receiving yards and one touchdown. His lone touchdown came during the Cardinals’ 36-24 loss to the New York Giants last week.

Harrison was criticized for his lack of production early in the season, when he recorded just one catch in two weeks. He said it’s “obviously a slow start” and wasn’t surprised that people were critical of his performance.

“I understand who I am and what I was expected to do when I got drafted here and all the expectations that were put on me,” he said. “People want certain production, so when that’s not happening, everybody’s going to ask questions or try to figure out why or a reason.”
