BUCKEYE, AZ (AZFamily) — A Buckeye teacher’s aide was arrested Tuesday after police say she posted a social media threat to shoot up her elementary school.

Sharde Booker, 21, who was employed as a paraprofessional at Westpark Elementary School, faces one count of threatening or intimidating and one count of interfering with an educational institution.
Buckeye police said they got a tip Tuesday afternoon about a possible school shooting threat that was posted to Instagram just before 2 p.m. The post read in part, “shooting up the school,” and was uploaded while Booker was at the school, according to court documents.
They traced the post’s location to Westpark Elementary School and identified Booker as the Instagram account holder.
During an interview, Booker admitted to police that she made the Instagram post and acknowledged that the statement about shooting up a school is serious, court documents said.
Police immediately notified school officials after arresting Booker. Police said there was no ongoing threat to the campus.
Booker had been working as a paraprofessional at Westpark Elementary School for two years, according to court paperwork.

School district officials released the following statement Wednesday morning:
“Buckeye Elementary School District #33 was notified by the Buckeye Police Department after school hours on September 1st of an inappropriate social media post involving a threat directed toward WestPark Elementary School by a paraprofessional employed at the school.
“The District immediately cooperated with Buckeye Police as they investigated the matter. The individual associated with the social media post was identified and arrested by the Buckeye Police Department. Law enforcement has determined that there is no ongoing threat to the WestPark campus.
“Because this matter involves a District employee, BESD is limited in the personnel information it can provide. Questions regarding the law enforcement investigation should be directed to the Buckeye Police Department.
“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate the quick response of the Buckeye Police Department and our continued partnership with law enforcement in helping keep our schools safe.”
