Man dead after hit-and-run in Mesa shopping center parking lot

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A man is dead after a hit-and-run in the parking lot of a Mesa shopping center late Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m., first responders were called to a report of a person hit by a truck at the Mesa Grand Shopping Center near US 60 and Stapley Drive.

When officers arrived, they found 33-year-old Robert Hetrick dead at the scene, according to the Mesa Police Department.

Investigators said the vehicle involved left the area before officers arrived. Police believe it may have been a silver Ford F-150.

Detectives are working to determine what led up to the crash.

“Our thoughts are with Robert’s family and loved ones as they navigate this difficult and heartbreaking loss,” the department said in a statement. “Even the smallest detail could help bring answers and accountability to Robert’s family.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the pickup truck involved is asked to contact the Mesa Police Department.
