SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Four men have been arrested in connection to a reported drive-by shooting at a Scottsdale short-term rental earlier this year.

Scottsdale police say the following suspects were taken into custody:

  • Gabriel Chiruza Lunyerere, 21
  • Kywan Jones, 24
  • Jamir Smith, 22
  • Michel “Ray” Kasereka, 20

On April 12, shortly before 11 p.m., Scottsdale police received reports of shots fired at a rental property near Hayden and McDowell roads. Officers found multiple bullet strikes that hit the home, and numerous shell casings were scattered throughout the area.

Police say several adults were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no one was struck by gunfire.

Using surveillance video, forensic evidence and social media, Scottsdale detectives identified Lunyerere, Jones, Smith and Kasereka as the alleged suspects. Numerous search warrants were served, and several firearms were recovered in connection to the crime.

Investigators say the shooting may have been in retaliation for an armed robbery that happened earlier that day in Phoenix.

Video from the scene shows bullet holes outside of the home, some near the front door and windows.

“Our detectives, analysts, tactical teams, and support personnel did outstanding work in identifying and arresting those responsible for this dangerous shooting,” said Joe LeDuc, Chief of the Scottsdale Police Department.
