GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — A Valley man was arrested after he reportedly moved a Gilbert woman’s body and took her car after she was found dead this week.

Gilbert police said officers were called to check on 55-year-old Cindy Miller at her home near Warner and McQueen roads on Saturday after her family reported they had not heard from her in several days.
Arriving officers found Miller dead inside her home, Gilbert police said.
Detectives said they later found that several of her belongings, including her vehicle, were missing.
The investigation used Flock automatic license plate reader technology to find Miller’s vehicle being driven by 52-year-old Kristopher Lauchner in the days after her death, police said.
Police said Lauchner knew Miller, and he was banned from talking to her as part of his pretrial release conditions.
Investigators said Lauchner moved Miller’s body from the scene of her death to her Gilbert home. Police did not say where Miller is alleged to have been killed.

Police said Lauchner tried to run away from officers on Tuesday before he was taken into custody.
Lauchner was booked in Maricopa County on charges including abandoning or concealing a dead body, burglary and trafficking in stolen property.
The county medical examiner is still determining Miller’s cause and manner of death, police said. This is an active investigation.
