Not many details are known, but officials said the suspect, who has not been identified, posed “an immediate threat to civilians and agents on the scene.” When an agent intervened, one was stabbed by the suspect, according to Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott.
The suspect was then shot and killed.
The injured Border Patrol agent is recovering in the hospital, Scott said. Another person was also injured, but details surrounding their injuries were not given.
Several agencies are investigating the shooting, including the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General.
