All parties agreed Wednesday to a Feb. 16, 2027, trial date for Brian Cole, with the judge blocking off two weeks for both the government and defense to present their cases.

Wednesday’s status conference came just days after the same judge ruled that President Donald Trump’s mass pardons for Jan. 6 rioters do not apply to Cole. Cole’s team had previously attempted to use the pardons to get his case dismissed.

Cole faces decades in prison after being charged with transporting and attempting to detonate two pipe bombs near the U.S. Capitol. The government says Cole planted the devices near political party headquarters on the night of Jan. 5, 2021.

Cole was not arrested and charged until December of last year, following a multi-year investigation involving local Washington, D.C., authorities and the FBI.
