Carlos Lechuga, 38, who now lives in Laredo, Texas, was charged with five counts of producing child pornography involving five underage girls, and he entered a guilty plea for all charges.
Lechuga’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15. He has been detained in federal custody since December 2024, when he was arrested.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Lechuga admitted in his change of plea hearing that he taught mariachi music classes at a school and gave private music lessons at his home in Phoenix from 2013 to 2019, and the victims were students who came to his home during that time.
Victims range in age from 6 to 11 years old, according to the DOJ.
The FBI uncovered videos on the dark web in December 2024 that showed Lechuga committing sexual acts involving the girls.
