It will impact how much water residents and businesses on the mountain can use each month, and what they can use the available water for. It could also affect services available to visitors, like public restrooms.
Stage 3 restrictions are called whenever the district’s water storage level or water source production is 25-50% of capacity for at least 24 hours.
According to the district, the following uses of water are prohibited.
- Watering any plants
- Washing vehicles
- Using water for dust mitigation or any construction use
- Any outdoor cleaning
- Drip irrigation or misting systems of any kind
- Filling of storage tanks, spas, fountains, or ornamental pools
The Mount Lemmon Domestic Water Improvement District said each resident will be allotted 2,400 gallons of water per month. If customers do not comply with the restrictions, their services could be cut off.
The district said people using less than 2,400 gallons per month are being asked to reduce as much as possible.

When there were Stage 3 restrictions at the end of 2023, there were several things that were prohibited. That included washing vehicles, doing laundry, irrigating lawns, using water for dust control, and filling up storage tanks, spas, fountains, or ponds.
Also, businesses in the area moved to paper plates, and some of the restrooms were closed in the area.
