Pima County man accused of killing father, attacking mother

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Pima County man is accused of killing his father and attacking his mother.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said 39-year-old Tyler Lachmann was arrested Monday, June 29, on charges of first-degree murder and vulnerable adult abuse. He is being held without bond.

According to the PCSD, the attack happened at the family’s home in the 600 block of West Placita de la Poza, which is near West Hardy Road and State Route 77.

The PCSD said while it was initially reported as a possible cardiac arrest, crews found 73-year-old Chris Lachmann dead in the home. Chris Lachmann’s 72-year-old wife was found with serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

According to the PCSD, both victims had injuries consistent with a violent assault.

Tyler Lachmann was identified as the suspect and was arrested without incident.

During his initial court appearance, Tyler Lachmann was ordered to be held without bond. The state said he is on pretrial release for a separate felony case.

During the hearing, Tyler Lachmann’s mother spoke over the phone and said her son needs a mental health evaluation. She also said she does not feel comfortable with him living with her again.

A no-bond hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. July 6, while a preliminary hearing was set for 1:30 p.m. July 10
